waiting for spring..need sunshine

the cold air irritated my knee for 2 months unable to walk on for 2 weeks, I had to resort to using a CANE.  imagine that, at my age, where has time gone...I am not old just getting older,

slowly knee is better, went shopping at one of my reliable everything store, came out with a load and resorted once more not to bus and carry it all. I took a cab and let the younger gentleman handle my load.

some cleaning got left behind, laundry, stair climbing. the birds and dog are great company and where would we be without the tv and internet.

little snow this winter so spring is not far away.

planning what to grow, buying seeds, if younger would get soil and do more but must be realistic, age slows us down

as my family grows smaller we must remember to help others, give them your time, your fruits of love, a listening ear, a cup of tea

                                     TURNING A NEW PAGE

With a push from case manager to find employment and my health and my doctor said no to employment I suggested to volunteer, so far they agreed.
The necessary tests all cleared, TB and police check.
My walking has slowed, standing hurts my feet and knees so I knew of a perfect location to volunteer. Half a block from my bus a long term care facility with approximately 80 residents.
I am looking forward to getting out. Since mother passed 2 years ago I cleaned, rested, gardened, bought canaries and care for a yappy little dog. I have discovered boredom and loneliness was setting in.
The facility has a very good program of activities. I will assist with card playing, crafts, gardening and entertaining residence.
I will bring some music, craft supplies including yarn for crocheting and a smile to make someones day happier.
HOW REWARDING THIS WILL BE !!!!!!

Falling into place

The end of the garden, collected as many seeds from the yard for next years sprouting. Brought the rosemary plant in and put in kitchen window, luscious now, hopefully survives the lack of sun.
The back fence needed repair and the veranda rail finally fell off perhaps the spring will bring anew.

I had some health tests done, one revealed a lesion near my heart so I was cautious not to lift or strain for a couple months till my MRI. Those results were good nothing found. You really think about the future the past the what ifs,  all the time trying to remain confident and spiritual.

Enjoy the small things, children, a good cup of tea, feed a blue jay  some peanuts, be kind to nature, Love all
things.

My brother recently had a health scare. His walking become difficult. He was slumping.  We thought Alzheimer"s  as it runs in the family. He also has diabetes. Like our father it usually comes with multiple problems.
My brother was also falling so his wife called and he was admitted to hospital. The symptoms happened quicker than Alzheimer's so doctors ordered a spinal tap and results revealed "normal pressure hydrocephalus" too much water on the brain. With a tube from the brain to stomach  he is on his way to recovery.

With an uncertain future I found myself crocheting. The more I finished the better. Hats, shawls, I have enjoyed crocheting for 40 years so it is relaxing and rewarding. A few pictures of some
TO A BETTER DAY.  GOD BLESS

                                            Missing You

I am missing you today, as other days. Remembering all the small things you taught your children,
Today I am cooking tomato sauce, something I learned from you. You were such a great cook, preparing all our meals. Hours of such loving care.
Y early gardens we remember them well, planting, weeding, watering and reaping rewards meant freezing, canning for the winter ahead. I fail at this saving too much work I suppose all those jars, washing , boiling and tapping lids to see if sealed. Wow you done so much for us.
How do I stop myself from tearing up. I don't , just wipe those tears away and continue.
One good thing rubbed off even as a child I loved to get my hands in the soil. This year I enjoyed it because it was new and creative and with care and love the garden turned out fabulous.
So tonight I will enjoy some pasta with the freshly made sauce, thank you Mom

Waiting the New Year

Christmas was different, mother was not there, we decided to eat out. A cozy place turkey and beef buffet, was ok but next year somewhere different. A quick visit as well.  We downsized our gifts as well, we all have so much. I crocheted  some hats for my great niece and I sent out the usual paper cards.
Heavy winds sent a section of fencing flat so been watching the dog
carefully as my nephew stood it up but not as yet secured.   My sister and I both bought ourselves our first cell phones and disconnected our land lines so extra playing is required.

Also bought a couple of other toys for health and entertainment meaning
paying for them and putting myself on a tighter budget.

Looking forward to the new year, the spring, planting in my new high planters the nephew made.

I enjoy my outting downtown for lunch once a week , now I can sit with the phone, talk,  occasionally sharing words with a  stranger who are looking for a kind word.

I have several friends struggling emotionally and physically with cancer. Hoping and praying they find peace, love, happiness knowing they are loved. Let prayer and the Lord heal them and love them.

Enjoyed making cookies with my great niece, got to use the new mixer. Not able to sync my picture so posted on Google +.

Winter so far has been good in fact double digits for days before Christmas. I am not a fan of wearing heavy coats and boots so weather suits me fine.

My sister after losing husband has been getting out more it is difficult to start over.

Here's hoping next year will be better to everyone, bless all of you
